DJ Ironik feat. McLean Killed Me

As with all urban stars of late it seems Ironik has decided to go down the pop route that his peers have trodden so successfully. This bland offering is high on dramatic production values but low on catchy tunes. The beats are weak, the lyrics are so-so and the best thing that can be said about it is that is sounds like an N-Dubz ballad. It is not totally without merit though as the production by The Next Room is pretty tight and could rival the sounds of any US r’n’b act at the moment.

DJ Ironik’s vocal delivery is also quite appealing but his engaging voice works much better on his earlier more up-tempo tunes. This track may be lost in the swathes of similarly syrupy urban sludge that is around at the moment but as there is certainly a large audience for this sort of stuff it is sure to do reasonably well in the charts. If chart success is all he is after then Ironik may do well out of this rather dull track but with the likes of Tinie Tempah delivering real pop gems it looks as though this weak release may be laid to rest quite soon.
